Meta AI Editing Tools Now Mysteriously Missing from Instagram Stories
Meta is now integrating its AI-driven photo and video editing tools directly into Instagram Stories. Users can simply type text prompts to add or remove objects from their media, or even transform the entire scene.
Although Meta previously offered image editing tools on Instagram, they were only accessible through conversations with its AI chatbot. By introducing text-based prompts within Stories, these powerful editing options become far more intuitive and readily available.
You can find these new features in the "Restyle" menu, located at the top of the Instagram Stories editor when you tap the paintbrush icon. To edit a photo, select "add," "remove," or "change" and describe your desired edit in the prompt bar. For example, Meta suggests you could ask to change your hair color, add a crown to your head, or place a sunset in the background.

You might add accessories like sunglasses or a biker jacket, or apply a watercolor filter. For videos, you can create effects like falling snow or roaring flames.
It's crucial to understand that using Meta AI on Instagram means you agree to Meta's AI Terms of Service. These terms permit the analysis of your media and facial features by AI. According to the policy, when you upload photos, Meta can "summarize image contents, modify images, and generate new content based on the image."

Last month, the company launched a new AI-generated video feed called "Vibes" within the Meta AI app, which likely contributed to a surge in downloads. Data from Similarweb indicates the app's daily active users on iOS and Android grew to 2.7 million as of October 17, a significant increase from roughly 775,000 just four weeks prior.
Furthermore, addressing potential parental concerns, Meta announced earlier this month the introduction of new parental controls. These features allow parents to block chats with AI characters and monitor the topics their teens discuss with the Meta AI chatbot.

Wait, so they just quietly removed the AI editing tools from Stories? That's so typical of big tech—launch a feature, get everyone used to it, then pull it back or change it without much explanation. Makes you wonder if there were bugs, privacy issues, or maybe they're just repackaging it for a paid tier later. Kinda frustrating as a user, ngl. 🤔
