Hangzhou Holographic Intelligent Technology Research Institute Unveils Six Joint Labs to Accelerate AI Tech Innovation

On May 27, the Hangzhou Holographic Intelligent Technology Research Institute (the Institute) hosted a research-industry integration launch event at the Smart Internet Valley Town in the Grand Canal Digital Intelligence City. The event revealed the Institute's first six joint laboratories, built with leading industry partners, marking a decisive shift from research transformation to collaborative industrial innovation.

1. Six Laboratories: Covering Key AI Tracks

The six newly introduced joint laboratories target cutting-edge areas of artificial intelligence, designed to bridge the gap between research labs and real-world applications:

Joint Laboratory of Intelligent Graphics Technology (established with Xiangxin Technology): Focuses on advanced 3D reconstruction and real-time 3DGS rendering, advancing virtual digital humans from mimicking voice and appearance to achieving emotional intelligence. The lab has already delivered initial results and filed three national invention patents.

Joint Laboratory of Digital Power Conversion and Control (established with Zhenchui Technology): Extends electric drive technology from new energy vehicles to low-altitude economy (eVTOL) and embodied intelligent robot joint modules, enabling deep integration of power infrastructure with computing clusters.

Joint Laboratory of Industrial Intelligence (established with Ruixiu Technology): Concentrates on AI-CAD, industrial world models, and generative design, driving industrial design toward fully autonomous AI-driven creation.

Joint Laboratory of Intelligent Engineering Computing (established with Maidatech): Focuses on CAD graphic language and engineering logic comprehension, advancing AI from basic drawing recognition to sophisticated engineering reasoning.

Joint Laboratory of Embodied Intelligence and Motion Control (established with Zhongshu Moka): Dedicated to optimizing the synergy between hardware and software in embodied intelligence.

Joint Laboratory of Smart Energy Management (established with Jianda Intelligent): Focuses on energy-efficient management technologies for industrial environments.

2. Innovative Closed Loop: An "Above and Below" Collaboration Model

Founded in June 2024 by Zhejiang University and the Gongshu District Government, the Hangzhou Holographic Intelligent Technology Research Institute operates as a high-level innovation platform. It introduced a unique "above and below" collaboration mechanism that bridges research and industry:

Research Leadership: Leveraging the top-tier academic resources of Zhejiang University's National Key Laboratory of CAD&CG, the Institute offers research support spanning from theoretical foundations to cutting-edge technology.

Industrial Implementation: The labs directly align with corporate needs, turning research code into testable product systems. According to the Institute's director, this mutual effort addresses the twofold problem of scientists lacking market awareness and entrepreneurs lacking foundational R&D capabilities.

3. Development Vision: Building a National AI Innovation Hub

Since its founding, the Institute has rapidly established a virtuous cycle of technology R&D, enterprise incubation, and industrial implementation along the Grand Canal. It now houses a high-level full-time research team and has nurtured over 50 digital economy innovation enterprises, including eight national high-tech companies.

The simultaneous launch of the six joint laboratories serves both as a review of the Institute's accomplishments over two years and as a key step toward helping Hangzhou become the leading city for national AI innovation and development.
