Google My Ad Center now automatically labels generative AI ads
On July 9, Google announced the addition of a "How This Ad Was Made" information block to its My Ads Center panel, aiming to improve transparency around the use of generative AI in advertising creativity worldwide.
The new requirements apply to major platforms like Google Search, YouTube, and Discover. When advertisers use Google’s AI tools to create or edit ad copy, images, or events, the system automatically generates and displays AI disclosure labels in the background.

For content created with third-party tools, Google does not enforce a strict one-size-fits-all requirement, but it has also introduced a self-declaration control panel. This step signals that the world’s largest digital advertising ecosystem is rapidly building compliance frameworks for generative content. In regions with strong regulatory laws, this compliance mechanism will directly align with local regulations and become visible AI access indicators on the front end.
This strategic move is not just a robust response by Google to the trust crisis triggered by technology’s manipulation of media, but also reflects a deep shift in how the digital marketing industry views authenticity. As large language models expand rapidly in creative generation, potential buyers are increasingly demanding stricter authenticity in ad materials.
By embedding technical disclosure into routine platform operations, Google is reducing the complexity for advertisers to meet cross-border industry standards, while gradually reshaping the trust chain of digital advertising in the AI era. This sets a long-term precedent for ecological purification and industry standardization in future digital marketing.
