Google Gemini AI Demands Higher RAM for Optimal Performance
Google has officially rolled out its new Gemini Intelligence feature suite. This isn't merely a rebranding effort; it's a comprehensive collection of advanced AI capabilities for the Android platform. The suite can autonomously handle multi-step tasks in the background, seamlessly retrieving and processing information across different apps and websites on the user's behalf.
To power its robust on-device AI model, Google has established fairly strict hardware requirements. The most notable specification is a minimum of 12GB of RAM. Consequently, this next-generation AI functionality will not see widespread availability across all Android devices in the immediate future.

Targeting Latest Flagships, Initial Rollout Will Be Limited
Based on currently available information, Gemini Intelligence is anticipated to debut first on Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 foldable models. Google has also confirmed that the Galaxy S26 series and Pixel 10 series will gain access to the feature this summer.
Beyond the memory requirement, eligible devices must also be equipped with qualifying flagship-grade chipsets, support system-level AICore services, and meet specific quality benchmarks. Given these multiple stringent conditions, the initial number of Android devices capable of running this feature will be quite restricted.
Dual Software and Security Certification May Exclude Mid-Range Models
Google's official documentation further emphasizes requirements for robust device security isolation and virtualization capabilities, including support for protected kernel-based VM technology. Additionally, devices supporting this feature must commit to a minimum of five major OS version updates and six years of quarterly security patches.
