Google Announces Development of Gemini 4, Vowing Enhanced Focus on Computing Resources for Advancing Artificial General Intelligence
During Alphabet’s Q2 2026 earnings call, CEO Sundar Pichai provided an update on the development of the next-generation large language model, Gemini4. This announcement came as Gemini3.5Pro, which was originally scheduled for a June release, remains in the partner testing phase due to delays. To stay ahead in the competition surrounding general artificial intelligence, Google has launched the largest pre-training initiative in its history to fully develop Gemini4.
Regarding technical advancements and product offerings, Google has recently introduced Gemini3.6Flash, along with 3.5Flash-Lite and 3.5Flash Cyber designed for enhanced security features. The company has made significant improvements to the performance of these 3.x Flash series models through ongoing optimizations, addressing previous limitations in code generation and agent capabilities. To support the development of cutting-edge models, Google has prioritized securing access to tensor processing unit resources, enabling it to build a more expansive foundation for Gemini4. Pichai indicated that the pace at which new models will be released is expected to accelerate considerably, with the goal of delivering a new version nearly every month.
Industry analysts anticipate that Gemini4 will make its official debut sometime between November and December of this year.
