Global Leaders Discuss AI and Society in 6 New Conversations

To truly leverage AI for the global good, it's crucial to engage with a diverse group of people from various fields, backgrounds, and regions. This approach helps us understand the multifaceted impact of AI on our world. Over the past year, we've initiated a series of dialogues with leading thinkers worldwide, discussing the most pressing issues surrounding AI. We've shared some of these insights through our Dialogues on Technology and Society series on YouTube, and in a special edition with *The Atlantic*.
Today, we're excited to release six new discussions featuring global experts who delve into AI's influence on economic, societal, and scientific realms.
James Manyika and Ngaire Woods, the Founding Dean of the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, sit down to talk about how policy can help maximize AI's benefits while minimizing its risks.
Kent Walker, President of Global Affairs at Google and Alphabet, joins MIT's Principal Research Scientist Andrew McAfee to explore how generative AI could boost economic growth and productivity.
James Manyika and Anna Greka, a Professor at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, discuss how AI is transforming scientific and medical research, particularly in understanding genetic diseases and developing targeted treatments.
Jigsaw CEO Yasmin Green and Rory Stewart, a former UK Member of Parliament and Senior Advisor at NGO GiveDirectly, tackle AI's impact on democracy and the crucial role of policy in shaping AI's future.
James Manyika and Lord Nicholas Stern, Chair of the London School of Economics’ Grantham Research Institute, discuss AI's potential in accelerating a green transition and mitigating climate change effects.
Matt Brittin, President of Google EMEA, and Kate Garvey, Co-Founder of Project Everyone, discuss how AI can help achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals worldwide.
These quick and candid conversations feature leaders who are actively working to make a difference: a university dean and professor shaping the future of public service, a physician-scientist pushing the boundaries of disease research, an economist driving climate action, Google's first Technology & Society visiting fellow analyzing global workforce trends, a former UK MP focused on protecting democracy, and a communications leader spotlighting the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
In each discussion, we explore how AI's rapid advancements are impacting these areas, while also addressing the genuine risks AI poses. The goal is to understand how this technology can bring meaningful, positive change to people everywhere, and the collaborative efforts needed to achieve this.
You can tune into all six episodes on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.
