Germany Black Forest Laboratory Unveils Flux3 Multimodal Model with Native Audio and 20-Second Synchronized Video
German AI startup Black Forest Labs has unveiled Flux3, a multimodal foundation model built on the Self-Flow architecture. It integrates dedicated codecs for image, video, audio, and motion, enabling unified understanding and generation across both physical and digital environments.
Outperforming Luma and Runway while competing with top-tier models
As the first model to support native audio generation, Flux3 can produce synchronized audio-video clips up to 20 seconds in a single pass, covering text/image/video-to-video, keyframe-based transitions, and multilingual dialogue. In early tests at 720p resolution with 10-second clips, Flux3 achieved a 93% win rate against Luma Ray3.2, a 77% win rate against Runway Gen-4.5, and held a slight edge over leading models like Seedance2.0 and Gemini Omni Flash.
Entering robotics with a phased release strategy
The company partnered with Mimic Robotics to develop Flux-mimic, a video action model for robotics. It has already begun production task testing at an Audi factory, extending AI capabilities from the digital realm into physical manufacturing. BFL is rolling out Flux3 in phases: Flux3 Video is available now, while Flux3 Image and the open-source weights "Flux3 Dev" will launch soon.
