ElevenLabs officially launched its AI music marketplace on March 19, 2026, enabling creators to produce, publish, and sell tracks using its ElevenCreative AI music model. Within this ecosystem, users can generate revenue from the download, remix, or licensing of their original AI compositions by other users. Official figures indicate that ElevenLabs has already distributed over $11 million to creators via its voice marketplace, and its music model has been used to create nearly 14 million songs to date.

The newly introduced music licensing system offers three tiers: for social media, paid marketing, and offline use, designed to meet the varied needs of content creators, game developers, and marketers. Despite receiving backing from prominent producers like Patrick Jordan-Patrikios, the platform continues to confront significant legal ambiguities. As current laws often deny copyright protection to AI-generated works lacking human authorship, ElevenLabs explicitly states in its Music Terms that it cannot guarantee the uniqueness of generated content or provide legal protection, placing the risk of third parties independently creating similar content on the users themselves.
Furthermore, to mitigate infringement disputes, the platform strictly prohibits the use of real artist names or existing song lyrics as prompts. ElevenLabs' strategy aims to foster the assetization of AI content by establishing a closed commercial loop within the current gray areas of copyright law.
