To mark the 50th International Museum Day, ByteDance's AI-powered app Douyin launched a museum tour mode, using generative AI to reshape how the public experiences cultural heritage. The mode has officially partnered with over 20 top domestic cultural institutions, including the National Museum of China, Pudong Art Museum, Gansu Provincial Museum, Hebei Museum, Capital Museum, and China Art Museum.
Beyond cloud-based knowledge retrieval, Douyin has integrated deeply into offline exhibition settings, forming further partnerships with five leading venues—Gansu Provincial Museum, Hebei Museum, Capital Museum, China Art Museum, and Pudong Art Museum—where it now serves as the official "AI tour guide" for major exhibitions.
This move signals that large language model applications are evolving from general online conversations into high-fidelity offline services with spatial awareness and specialized expertise.
