Dou Bao Hotels Begin Charging Fees as TikTok’s Laike Introduces Service Policy for Select Channels
Hotel reservations routed via Doubao to TikTok Laike are now subject to a distinct pricing structure. Effective August 10, these bookings incur an 11.4% software service fee and a 0.6% payment processing fee, totaling approximately 12%.
Hotel industry insiders have verified this information, citing the TikTok Laike merchant dashboard. Experts note that commissions for Doubao-referral bookings are already being processed. ByteDance has not yet issued an official comment.

The "2026 TikTok Life Service Platform Specific Channel Software Service Fee Policy Statement," published by the TikTok Life Services Learning Center, takes effect at 0:00 on August 10, 2026. Rates will be visible to merchants in the TikTok Laike back office and remain valid until a new policy replaces them.
Service fees are calculated on the user's actual payment plus any non-merchant subsidies, such as platform-wide coupons. Rates vary by merchant type, product and POI categories, and transaction channels, applying either as fixed percentages or ranges.
Doubao is classified as a specific transaction channel, with rates subject to adjustment based on service performance. Order classification relies on settlement slips, and merchants can view applicable rates for group-buying products in the TikTok Laike back office.
This shift highlights platforms' efforts to monetize AI-driven traffic. As AI assistants increasingly facilitate e-commerce and local services, they are emerging as a significant new growth channel for online transactions.
