As Brands Adapt to AI Shift, Peec AI Secures $21M Investment

As more consumers turn to ChatGPT instead of Google for answers, the nature of product discovery is shifting. Peec AI has become one of Europe's most promising startups by offering brands visibility and control within this rapidly growing search channel.

Just four months after its Seed round led by 20VC, the Berlin-based company has secured a $21 million Series A funding round led by European VC firm Singular. CEO Marius Meiners did not reveal the exact valuation but confirmed it has tripled and now exceeds $100 million.

This funding follows an impressive milestone: Peec AI grew its annual recurring revenue to over $4 million within just ten months of launch, attracting 1,300 companies and agencies to its platform.

These clients use Peec AI to monitor how their brands are presented in AI-driven search results. Beyond basic analytics on visibility and ranking, the platform tracks audience sentiment and identifies which sources influence these AI-generated answers.

These insights enable Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), a practice that allows marketing teams to optimize a brand's presence in AI search results, much like SEO does for traditional search. With this value proposition, the startup is reportedly adding around 300 new customers each month. The fresh capital will accelerate this growth and support expansion plans.

Backed by the new round, which also saw participation from Antler, Combination VC, identity.vc, and S20, Peec AI aims to hire approximately 40 people over the next six months. Most roles will be based in Berlin, where Meiners met his two co-founders in Antler's Winter 2024 cohort: Tobias Siwonia, now CTO, and Daniel Drabo, now CRO.

Rapid scaling and high visibility could be crucial in this emerging market, which is likely to become competitive. Current rivals already include New York-based Profound and Austrian startup OtterlyAI.

To attract top talent, the 20-person startup is running a large-scale outdoor advertising campaign across Germany's capital. Beyond its Berlin expansion, Meiners told TechCrunch that Peec AI also plans to open a sales-focused office in New York City in the second quarter of next year.

As more GEO-specific tools enter the market and traditional SEO platforms add AI tracking features, Peec AI aims to stand out by providing marketing teams with a dashboard that is both comprehensive and user-friendly, despite the dynamic evolution of AI search.

Unlike traditional SEO tools focused on keywords, Peec AI's dashboard is organized around specific prompts where brands want to rank well. Customers can monitor up to 25 prompts for €75 per month ($87), or upgrade to 100 prompts for €169 per month ($196). Both plans include free trials, unlike the enterprise tier, which starts at €424 per month ($493).

To turn data into action, the dashboard provides specific recommendations for improving visibility and sentiment. For example, it might suggest that a company wanting to rank for "the best CRMs for fast-growing companies" should "participate in discussions on the r/CRM subreddit."

This type of advice ties into the "source insights" that are central to Peec AI's platform and can inform users' content strategies. The startup's research indicates that mentions in top-tier media don't always guarantee more visibility than articles from niche publications, especially when the latter's headlines align more closely with the user's original query—such as "the best healthcare investors in Berlin."

Current clients include major names like Axel Springer, Chanel, n8n, ElevenLabs, and TUI, reflecting the growing adoption of AI search across both B2C and B2B sectors. However, since users also employ ChatGPT for a wide range of other tasks, the startup must effectively filter out irrelevant noise.

To tackle this, Peec AI purchases raw datasets of user queries, but that's only the first step. "We have to filter all of these out to isolate the questions people actually ask about brands, purchases, products, and services," explained Meiners.

Beneath its simple user interface lies a sophisticated proprietary data pipeline, which may be the true key to Peec AI's success. This also highlights that the AI value chain extends beyond just models—the application layer and the underlying data have become a strategic battleground for European startups, with Peec AI now firmly in the race.
