Bluesky expands AI-powered Attie app to let anyone build websites, games, and more
Bluesky, the open social network, is extending its reach beyond its core application. During TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 on Thursday, the company unveiled a new tool empowering creators to design websites, quizzes, games, polls, and other interactive experiences.
This tool expands upon Attie, Bluesky’s experimental platform originally focused on AI-driven custom social feeds. With these new creation features, the goal is to enable everyday users to build experiences that were previously accessible only to software developers.
These user-generated games, sites, and experiences will operate on the AT Protocol (ATProto), the same infrastructure powering Bluesky and other decentralized social applications within the broader decentralized web ecosystem known as the Atmosphere.
Bluesky CEO Toni Schneider announced Attie’s new capabilities during an interview at Disrupt, stating, “We’re adding a feature to our Attie product that allows you to build sites and social experiences again for a group of people. So think of it as … social vibe coding or vibe coding for your community.”
The executive, a former CEO of Automattic and partner at True Ventures, had previously led the company on an interim basis after former CEO Jay Graber stepped down in March to assume the role of Bluesky’s chief innovation officer. Now, he is steering the company as it enters the AI era.
Attie serves as a sandbox for Bluesky to experiment with AI-driven concepts like this.

“Vibe coding today is kind of a single-user, solo experience,” Schneider explained. “And what I want to be able to do is build together or build for a group of people, and that’s what this product does.”
When creators use Attie, they remain connected to their ATProto identity. Additionally, Attie will recommend potential projects based on users’ public Bluesky profiles.
To build with Attie, users can integrate their own AI models or utilize open-weight options. The resulting sites and games will then leverage Bluesky’s broader audience, according to Bluesky COO Rose Wang.
“Everybody is building…But the big question is: who’s using the thing you’re building, because we haven’t solved that problem with distribution,” she said. “This is what makes Attie so interesting is that it comes with the Bluesky distribution, so it doesn’t stand alone.”
The network currently boasts 47 million registered users, although it has experienced a decline in engagement, with some users returning to X after testing the platform.
Beyond serving as a testing ground for new ideas, Attie aligns with Bluesky’s broader strategy to revitalize network activity by focusing on developers and communities in the coming months. These areas will also be enhanced by the protocol’s upcoming support for private data, which Schneider noted has been the most requested feature from developers. Private data is currently in alpha testing, with a full rollout planned by the end of the year.
“There should be lots and lots of these fun, small social experiences for your friends,” said Schneider, referring to the types of projects Attie will facilitate. “We don’t all have to go communicate with the entire world all of the time.”
