Anthropic Expands Compute Partnerships with Google and Broadrom

AI research lab Anthropic announced on Monday a new agreement with Google and Broadcom to significantly boost the processing and computational power behind its Claude AI models. This restructuring of its compute partnerships arrives as demand for its AI offerings continues its rapid ascent.
The agreements will broaden Anthropic's utilization of Google Cloud's tensor processing units (TPUs), the company's specialized AI chips, and expands upon a deal forged in October 2025 for over a gigawatt of compute capacity.
This enhanced computational infrastructure will become operational in 2027, Anthropic stated in a blog post. While the company withheld specific expansion figures, a recent Broadcom SEC filing indicates the deal encompasses 3.5 gigawatts of compute power.
Most of this new capacity will be located within the United States, extending the company's $50 billion pledge to invest in U.S. computational infrastructure, Anthropic noted.
"This landmark partnership with Google and Broadcom reflects our methodical strategy for scaling infrastructure: we are establishing the capacity required to support the exponential growth of our customer base while empowering Claude to push the boundaries of AI development," said Krishna Rao, CFO of Anthropic, in the press release. "We are making our most substantial compute commitment to date to match our extraordinary growth trajectory."
Anthropic did not reply to TechCrunch's request for further details.
The company has experienced surging demand for its Claude models in recent months, driven by enterprise clients, even following the U.S. Defense Department's designation of Anthropic as a potential supply chain risk. Anthropic also recently concluded a $30 billion Series G funding round, valuing the company at $380 billion.
Anthropic announced its annualized revenue run rate has now reached $30 billion, a sharp increase from the $9 billion reported at the close of 2025. The company also boasts over 1,000 business customers each spending more than $1 million on an annualized basis.
