The competition for leadership in artificial intelligence has intensified once more. Amazon recently revealed an additional $5 billion investment in AI startup Anthropic, bringing its total commitment to a staggering $130 billion.
As a cornerstone of this deep partnership, Anthropic has committed to investing over $100 billion in Amazon Web Services over the next ten years. These substantial funds will be allocated to secure up to 5 gigawatts of new computing capacity to fuel the development of its core model, Claude.
Deep Hardware-Level Integration
A key aspect of this agreement centers on Amazon's custom, in-house developed chips. Anthropic intends to utilize these processors to train and operate its large-scale AI systems.
Their collaboration spans a full spectrum of hardware, from energy-efficient processors to high-performance accelerators. Even forthcoming next-generation chip iterations are already part of Anthropic's procurement plans.
