AI Live: Scaling Artificial Intelligence Across Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare
![]()
The premier event for CAIOs, AI LIVE: The London Summit, is set to convene at Olympia, London, on 20–21 October 2026.
AI LIVE: The London Summit will unite over 2,000 global leaders under the theme 'Technology + Human Purpose' to examine the upcoming era of artificial intelligence.
Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming healthcare and drug discovery. An article published by global pharmaceutical company Lundbeck highlights that one of the most significant applications of AI in drug discovery lies within medicinal chemistry.
By leveraging generative AI models, the company notes that computers can generate virtual small molecules, serving as inspiration for scientists to determine which compounds to synthesize. These molecules are engineered with specific properties in mind, offering the potential to become the next generation of promising drug candidates.
The AI systems learn from historical successes and failures, analyzing data on the measured properties of previously synthesized molecules to predict new virtual structures. Lundbeck emphasizes that this data-driven approach facilitates the generation of innovative ideas for molecules with enhanced properties.
At AI LIVE: The London Summit, this topic will be explored in depth by examining how AI is revolutionizing pharmaceutical research and development through accelerated scientific discovery, improved clinical trial success rates, and optimized drug development pipelines.
Taking place on 21 October at Olympia London, senior leaders from AstraZeneca, the NHS, and Lundbeck will discuss how AI is fundamentally transforming the industry.

Rapid AI advancements
AI's impact extends beyond small molecules; it is also revolutionizing the realm of biologics, according to Lundbeck. Biologics involve the study of large, complex molecules such as antibodies.
The company argues that AI-based protein structure predictions are changing the landscape, enabling researchers to understand the intricate 3D architecture of these molecules early in the biotherapeutic discovery process.

Markus Kede, Chief AI Officer at Lundbeck
Advancements across life sciences and healthcare have been rapid on the frontier side. This week, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei announced on X that Claude led the discovery of a molecular machine that the firm "suspects" could represent a new gene-editing mechanism.
The AI lab explains that Claude has discovered a previously unknown enzyme system hidden in the DNA of bacteriophages. Beside the enzyme’s gene sits a long array of repeating DNA – a structure that looks somewhat similar to CRISPR.
"Its precise function, biotechnological utility (if any), or level of significance is not yet clear, but at minimum it is work I would have been proud to do as a PhD student," Dario explained on X.
"The work was done mostly, though not entirely, by Claude: our life sciences team suggested a broad area of research, Claude read through the literature and a bunch of genome data and discovered something interesting, then Claude proposed experiments to verify the discovery and our team carried them out."
