AI Added to Teacher Certification Exams and Core Curriculum in National Education Push

Recently, the Ministry of Education, along with the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the National Data Administration, jointly released the "Artificial Intelligence + Education" Action Plan. This initiative seeks to coordinate AI talent development and applied innovation, targeting the deep integration of artificial intelligence and education by 2030. The goal is to establish a comprehensive, socially connected education system and significantly improve the scale and quality of talent cultivation.
The Action Plan outlines four key strategic tasks. For talent cultivation, it mandates comprehensive AI curricula in basic education, establishes AI as a public foundational course in higher education, and aligns vocational training with industry transformation needs. Concurrently, AI will be incorporated into teacher qualification exams and certifications, aiming to comprehensively enhance the digital literacy of educators. Regarding deep integration, the plan emphasizes using AI to empower student learning, enhance teaching methods, improve school governance, and transform research paradigms, enabling intelligent upgrades across all stages of the educational process.
For infrastructure development, the plan involves building a smart education foundation. This includes establishing an "Education Intelligence Network" to provide computational power and model support, and creating new educational environments like future classrooms and training centers. Furthermore, the plan stresses building an open ecosystem. It encourages high-quality educational product development through collaboration between government, industry, academia, research, and finance, while establishing safety standards and a supportive policy framework to promote Chinese educational standards internationally.
The release of this policy signifies China's "Artificial Intelligence + Education" initiative moving into a phase of systematic implementation. By integrating technology throughout the educational lifecycle, it aims to accelerate educational equity and personalized learning while providing crucial talent support for the sustained growth of the national AI industry.
