a16z Global AI Top 100: DeepSeek in Top Four, Chinese Firms Rise Together
Venture capital firm a16z, based in Silicon Valley, has released the sixth edition of its "Top 100 Generative AI Consumer Applications" list, offering a snapshot of the global AI market landscape at the start of 2026. Data shows that while ChatGPT still holds a commanding lead at number one, its web traffic is about 2.7 times that of second-place Gemini. Meanwhile, the Chinese AI group led by DeepSeek is making a collective breakthrough.

In this ranking, DeepSeek placed fourth on the web side thanks to its global user base, becoming the highest-ranked Chinese app. Other products of Chinese origin, including Kimi (Moonshot), Qwen (Ali Tongyi), Kling AI (Kuaishou Keling), and Manus , also secured spots on the list. On mobile, ByteDance's Doubao has around 315 million monthly active users, firmly securing a top global position, while CapCut (the international version of Jinying) ranks second on mobile with 736 million monthly active users.
Today, the global market is divided into three independent ecosystems: the Americas and Europe, China, and Russia. Competition in 2026 has shifted to the "AI Agent" track. The rapid rise of open-source project OpenClaw and its subsequent acquisition by OpenAI mark AI's transition from conversation to action. Chinese companies are building core competitiveness in the global AI consumer market through precise scenario adaptation and cross-ecosystem applications. With the rapid growth of paid users of Claude and Gemini , who becomes the user's default AI entry point will be the key to the next stage of competition.
