LG Electronics unveiled an AI voice assistant for its ThinQ ON smart home hub in collaboration with Microsoft at the Industry Summit in Seoul. Leveraging Speech to Speech technology and Microsoft's Voice Live, the system enables natural interruptions, allowing users to change topics mid-conversation without waiting for responses. This addresses common issues with rigid voice assistants. The feature will launch this year, available to existing users via updates, and targets both residential and commercial sectors including hotels and offices. LG aims to secure a competitive edge in the smart home market by offering a truly conversational experience that rivals human interaction.

The policy prohibits frontline managers from using chatbots for promotional materials, requiring all posters to be company-approved. This move aligns with broader tech industry efforts to regulate AI content, ensuring visual consistency and preventing the erosion of customer trust caused by poorly generated, store-specific designs.

Microsoft Research, Harvard University, and the Broad Institute launched Project Quine, an experimental multimodal AI system creating a world model for biological research. Quine integrates genomics, proteomics, chemistry, and imaging into a unified representation space to enable cross-modal analysis. By bridging computational modeling with wet lab experiments, it accelerates drug discovery, identifying cancer candidates in days rather than months, significantly reducing time and costs while uncovering new treatment pathways through unified reasoning across fragmented biological data.

ByteDance's Douyin has officially named its AI personal assistant project Xiaodu, formerly codenamed Spell, and plans to launch it as an independent app. Currently in intensive internal testing, the final public version will be adjusted based on test results, though no exact release date has been announced. This move extends Douyin's mobile assistant capabilities, previously seen on Nubia devices, into a standalone application. Industry insiders note this allows users to access comprehensive AI services without being restricted by specific phone manufacturers or system integrations, marking a significant milestone in Douyin's AI development.
