The AI industry is shifting from model-focused development to system-oriented strategies. At WAIC 2026, 83 of 130 participants in the large model and generative AI track focused on AI Agents or intelligent applications, with model releases declining while Agent demonstrations rising. Industry discussions have moved from model intelligence to real value creation, and competition is shifting from single models to complete systems. AGI is becoming a core strategic goal for many firms, with organizations building step-by-step development paths and integrating resources across computing power, data, algorithms, talent, and architecture. Agent capabilities are advancing, but their performance is limited by pre-trained base models, and the industry is moving toward model-centric Agent designs. Meanwhile, Agentic programming is transforming software development, delivering organizational-level productivity gains and driving growth in the related market.
