A KPMG survey of 2,145 executives across 20 countries reveals many are unprepared for AI's shift from fixed-price contracts to pay-per-use billing. Nearly one-third admit they don't understand AI economics, and 29% are unaware of rising costs. As billing turns from predictable to consumption-based, companies face budget shocks, forcing rational cost management and exposing the gap between viewing AI as a strategic tool versus an immediate cost saver.
