ByteDance AI hardware team core member Lin Xi, head of Douyin phone hardware product, has left the company, marking the first key hardware leader departure since the AI phone project launched in 2024. Internal sources denied the project was shut down but said it entered a new operational model amid approval obstacles and supply chain changes. ByteDance has not commented further.
