Tesla Optimus Robot Production Line Revealed: Musk Confirms Summer Launch, Gradual Output Ramp-Up
On July 1, Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted a group photo of the team at the Fremont factory on social media, officially revealing the latest updates on the production line for the Optimus humanoid robot. This move marks that the new robotic production base, converted from the former Model S and Model X assembly lines, is now operational.

Responding to market speculation about the recent reduction in public demonstrations of Optimus, Musk explained that as a completely new product with over 10,000 unique parts, the initial production ramp-up will be extremely slow — a fundamental difference from traditional car manufacturing — making it difficult to predict exact annual output this year.
Based on Tesla's earlier capacity planning and the timeline disclosed in its Q1 financial report, the "most advanced" embodied intelligent terminal, as Musk has praised it, is expected to begin mass production in late July or early August. Low-volume production will start after summer, and large-scale high-volume production is not expected until 2027.
By transitioning from an automotive giant to embodied intelligent manufacturing, Tesla's move not only accelerates the real-world application of AI — from software algorithms to physical entities — but also has the potential to bring profound changes to global automated supply chains and labor market structures.
