StepZen Unveils STEPX Neo Prototype, World’s First Large Model-Native Smartphone

At the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC2026) in Shanghai, StepX introduced the STEPX Neo prototype on July 17th, marking the debut of the world’s first large model-native AI agent smartphone and showcasing a new paradigm for AI-mobile integration.
Distinct from conventional devices, the orange STEPX Neo features a unique interface with modules like "Aquatic Market," "Workshop," "Soul Settings," "User Identity," and "AI Agent Security." The "Aquatic Market" will curate high-quality agent products via partnerships to enhance user services, with phone binding details to follow. Meanwhile, "Soul Settings" captures personality and preferences, enabling the AI agent to deliver a highly personalized interaction experience.
Powered by the agent-native Step AOS and the Amoo AI agent, the STEPX Neo spans office productivity, lifestyle services, and entertainment. It continuously learns from user memories, relationships, and preferences to optimize performance.
Live demos revealed Amoo’s ability to autonomously execute complex tasks, such as checking concert ticket availability and seamlessly booking hotels via Ctrip. This demonstrates a smart workflow that transitions smoothly from intent recognition to service execution.
StepX clarified that the current display is a prototype, with final product specifications and additional features to be announced later. As large model capabilities migrate to edge devices, AI phones are evolving beyond basic voice assistants into intelligent agent platforms equipped with task planning, tool invocation, and long-term memory.
