SpaceX IPO Filing Highlights Satellite Internet and AI Expansion Ambitions

In its S-1 registration statement filed ahead of a planned IPO, SpaceX recently unveiled a number of impressive business metrics that highlight its strong footprint in aerospace communications and artificial intelligence:
Starlink subscribers surpass 10 million: By the first quarter of 2026, global paid Starlink subscribers had reached 10.3 million — doubling over the past year. This growth underscores Starlink's leadership in broadband and mobile communications as the world's largest low-Earth-orbit satellite constellation. The network currently consists of roughly 9,600 satellites, representing 65% of all active satellites in orbit.
Grok and the X AI ecosystem: Through deep integration with the social media platform X, active accounts on Grok and related AI services surpassed 1.3 billion in the past 12 months. This achievement shows how SpaceX, following its merger with xAI, is rapidly constructing a large-scale AI application ecosystem by leveraging its enormous social media traffic.
Massive investment in computing infrastructure: To fuel its AI business growth, the company's AI-related capital expenditure in Q1 2026 alone came to $7.72 billion. This sustained spending is intended to build a long-term edge in AI through massive GPU clusters — including the Colossus supercomputer — and space-based computing resources.
These metrics not only trace SpaceX's twin growth paths in aerospace manufacturing and AI platforms, but also set a strong valuation base for what is expected to be the largest tech IPO in history.
