Shanghai Clears 150 Generative AI Models for Public Service Deployment
The Shanghai Cyberspace Administration has released its latest update on generative AI service filings. According to the announcement, as of March 16, 2026, one additional generative AI service in Shanghai completed its filing this month, bringing the total number of registered services in the city to 150.
This filing process was conducted systematically by the Shanghai Cyberspace Administration in collaboration with relevant departments, in strict accordance with the "Interim Measures for the Management of Generative AI Services." In addition to direct filing, Shanghai has also registered services that utilize already-filed models via APIs or other means, particularly those with public opinion influence or social mobilization capabilities, to further standardize the innovative use of AI technology.

Under current regulations, all launched generative AI applications or features must meet compliance requirements. Relevant products must prominently display the filing information—including model name and filing number—either in a visible position or on the details page. Additionally, developers must strictly follow the "Methods for Identifying AI-Generated Synthetic Content," ensuring that AI-generated materials are clearly labeled to protect users' right to information.
The Shanghai Cyberspace Administration emphasized its commitment to advancing Shanghai as a hub for AI innovation and development. The goal is to achieve further breakthroughs in generative AI while ensuring responsible and regulated application. These filing and registration measures reflect Shanghai’s progress in fostering a vibrant AI industry within a robust compliance framework.
