QQ Announces Native Integration with OpenClaw: Built-in QQ Bot Plugin and Simplified Deployment Process
Tencent QQ has officially integrated with the open-source AI framework OpenClaw (Xiaolongxia), signaling a major leap in combining instant messaging with generative AI. The release of OpenClaw v2026.3.31 introduces a built-in QQ Bot plugin, developed by Tencent Light Cloud and the QQ team, with core code now merged into the main OpenClaw repository.
This plugin boosts QQ’s AI interaction capabilities, supporting private chats and multimedia messages. Key features include multi-account management, credential handling (SecretRef), Slash commands, and media message support.
Unlike traditional AI tools that operate as standalone apps, this native integration embeds AI directly into communication workflows, lowering the learning curve. Deployment is streamlined: users simply select the QQ Bot channel during setup, configure keys, and deploy quickly on platforms like Tencent Cloud Lighthouse.
Tencent’s strategy aims to make AI accessible through “pluginization” and “native integration,” shifting large models from isolated chat windows to deep scene integration. By supporting all message types and simplifying deployment, QQ fosters a broader AI bot development ecosystem, enhancing developer efficiency and setting a standard for transforming instant messaging into intelligent productivity tools.
