HomePixel Watch 4 Leaks Indicate Google's Focus on Enhanced Battery Life
Ever since the launch of the original Pixel Watch back in 2022, Google has been on a mission to boost its smartwatch's battery life. And if the latest leaks about the upcoming Pixel Watch 4 are anything to go by, it seems they're not letting up on that focus.
According to renders shared by 91mobiles, courtesy of leaker OnLeaks, the Pixel Watch 4 might come with a slightly chunkier profile—measuring 14.3mm thick compared to the 12.3mm of its predecessors. What's caught everyone's eye are the two mysterious small buttons flanking the speaker. What do they do? Your guess is as good as mine. But that increase in thickness often points to a bigger battery or additional components. Another intriguing change is the absence of the four charging pins that debuted with the Pixel Watch 2. Could Google have cracked the code for faster charging without them? It's definitely food for thought. And yes, the Pixel Watch 4 is expected to come in two sizes, just like before.
Why Thicker Might Mean Better
The thicker body and the missing charging pins suggest that battery life remains a top priority for Google. Let's not forget, the original Pixel Watch's battery life was a sore point for many users, prompting Google to tackle it head-on with subsequent models. While the addition of charging pins in the Pixel Watch 2 helped speed up charging and provided a more secure connection, they weren't without their downsides—like the need for a new proprietary charger and wear over time.
Software Improvements and Competitor Comparisons
On the software front, WearOS 4 and 5 have made strides in becoming more power-efficient, helping Pixel Watches to comfortably last a full day. However, they still lag behind the impressive multi-day battery life boasted by competitors like the OnePlus Watch 3, Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, and Apple Watch Ultra 2.
What's Next for Pixel Watch 4?
While these leaks are exciting, it's important to keep in mind that a lot can change before the final product hits the shelves. Renders don't spill the beans on the internals or what new features WearOS 6 might bring to the table. We might get more clarity at Google I/O next month, so stay tuned!

Finally! Google's been dragging its feet on battery life for years. If the Pixel Watch 4 can actually last more than a day, I might finally ditch my Garmin. But knowing Google, they'll probably mess up the software again. 😅

Apple Watch.

The Pixel Watch 4 leaks sound promising! Longer battery life is a game-changer for smartwatches. Can't wait to see if Google finally nails it. 😎

The Pixel Watch 4 battery life focus is cool, but I'm curious if it'll outlast my daily grind. Google’s stepping up, but can it beat Apple’s game? 🤔
