Pinterest Tests AI Tool to Turn Brand Catalogs Into Shoppable Ads
Pinterest is testing "auto-collages," a new AI feature that enables advertisers to instantly generate shoppable collages from their product catalogs, the company announced this week.
According to Pinterest, this innovation helps brands connect with customers more effectively while conserving time and creative assets.
The platform highlights that collages rank among the most engaging content formats for Gen Z users, with tens of millions created on Pinterest. Initial tests revealed that users save auto-collages twice as frequently as regular product Pins.
Auto-collages automatically organize product images into shoppable visual collections based on factors like outfit inspiration, user interaction, similar items, and saved content. For example, the tool might assemble complementary clothing pieces into a complete ensemble, or create fresh collages inspired by popular existing ones.

"Auto-collage emerged from our Pinterest Ads Labs initiative launched last year, where we develop cutting-edge generative AI solutions for brands," explained Julie Towns, Pinterest's Vice President of Product Marketing and Operations. "This tool represents a significant advancement, using AI to instantly convert product catalogs into compelling creative content that appeals to Gen Z and other audiences."
Pinterest also revealed enhancements to its "Trends" tool, providing advertisers with deeper insights into consumer purchasing intentions. The upgraded feature will analyze user saving patterns, curation activities, and shopping behaviors.
