OpenClaw Launches iOS and Android Apps for Open-Source AI Agent
On June 30, the highly anticipated open-source AI agent project, OpenClaw, officially released its iOS and Android mobile apps at the X Conference, marking its full transition to mobile platforms. The app allows users to connect their devices to the OpenClaw gateway, enabling them to leverage AI agents and toolchains for tasks ranging from coding to meal planning, anytime and anywhere.

OpenClaw gained rapid popularity in early 2024 as a phenomenon-level open-source project, largely due to MoltBook, a virtual social platform built entirely by agents. Although subsequent investigations revealed that some aspects of the MoltBook event involved human actors posing as agents for marketing purposes, casting doubt on its authenticity, this did not halt OpenClaw’s development. In February, OpenClaw’s founder, Peter Steinberger, announced his move to OpenAI, further validating the industry’s interest in this technological approach.
With AI agents accelerating their integration into multimodal and everyday applications, OpenClaw’s mobile launch extends automation capabilities beyond PC or development environments to the edge. This shift signals that mobile AI is evolving from simple “dialogue-based interaction” to “proactive agents” capable of executing real-world tasks, reshaping the future mobile ecosystem.
