Jony Ive and OpenAI Forge Ahead on AI Hardware Despite Dissolved 'io' Entity

OpenAI has removed all references to "io," the hardware company co-founded by renowned Apple designer Jony Ive, from its official website and social media channels. This change comes shortly after the announcement of OpenAI's near $6.5 billion acquisition and its plan to create specialized AI hardware.
Open informed The Verge that the deal remains on track, but references were withdrawn due to a trademark lawsuit from Iyo, a hearing device startup born out of Google's moonshot lab.
The initial blog post announcing the partnership, along with a nine-minute video featuring Ive and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has been taken down. The original post from Ive and Altman stated, "The io team, dedicated to creating products that inspire, empower, and enable, will now join OpenAI to collaborate more closely with the research, engineering, and product teams based in San Francisco."
OpenAI spokesperson Kayla Wood:
This page has been temporarily taken offline pursuant to a court order resulting from a trademark complaint filed by iyO regarding our use of the name 'io.' We disagree with the complaint and are currently evaluating our options.
