OpenAI has acquired NextSlide, a presentation startup, with its team joining OpenAI to contribute to ChatGPT-related product development. The financial details of the deal remain undisclosed. NextSlide founder Ahmed Beshry revealed that the acquisition occurred earlier this year, explaining the several-month delay in public announcement.
NextSlide specialized in AI-driven presentation creation, transforming prompts, notes, documents, or research into editable slides. Beshry stated the company aimed to simplify visual communication, enabling clearer idea expression. Post-acquisition, the team will continue developing AI tools that assist users in creating, communicating, and turning concepts into tangible outcomes.
This move underscores OpenAI’s strategy to expand into productivity and content creation. As generative AI evolves from text-based Q&A to office tasks like document and presentation generation, AI-assisted end-to-end creative workflows are emerging as a key application area.
Beshry previously co-founded Caper AI, a smart shopping cart and unmanned checkout startup acquired by Instacart for $350 million in 2021.
