During an earnings call on Wednesday, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced that agentic AI has hit a key technological tipping point. This shift moves AI beyond just generating conversations to taking autonomous action that solves real-world problems. This acceleration over the past few months not only fueled NVIDIA's FY2026 revenue, which jumped 65% to $216 billion, but also solidified the company's role as a core "AI infrastructure provider."
In a parallel development, OpenAI has struck a major deal with Peter Steinberger, founder of the open-source agentic AI project OpenClaw. Steinberger is joining OpenAI to help bring AI agents with autonomous planning and cross-platform capabilities to a global audience. Meanwhile, OpenClaw will become a non-profit foundation to preserve its open-source independence. Unlike standard chatbots, these agents work independently without constant human guidance, handling complex tasks like planning vacations and booking trips.
The industry is seeing similar momentum. Samsung emphasized its deeply integrated "smart AI experience" with the launch of its new Galaxy S26 series. At CES, physical AI robots that can fold clothes and work on production lines drew significant attention.
Huang forecasts that after the agentic AI wave, the next technological surge will be physical AI integrated into autonomous driving and robotics.
