Neuralink's Brain-Computer Interface Hits $42B Valuation, Private Equity Surges Nearly Fourfold

Elon Musk's brain-computer interface startup, Neuralink, has seen its valuation surpass $42 billion (roughly 284.4 billion yuan) in recent secondary market private equity transactions. That's nearly four times the $9 billion valuation from its funding round last June. According to data from private market firm Caplight, equity transaction valuations have ranged between $29 billion and $42 billion in recent months, with some buyers even offering indications of interest near $60 billion.
Neuralink is currently focused on developing and clinically applying its brain-computer interface system, aiming to help paralyzed patients control electronic devices through thought and explore ways to restore vision. Although the company recently announced that only 21 participants worldwide are involved in clinical trials, the project remains in early stages, and no official latest funding valuation has been publicly disclosed (the Oman Investment Authority announced a strategic investment in May this year, but that's the only public update). Despite this, capital markets continue to show strong investment appetite.
This sharp valuation increase reflects investors' premium enthusiasm for Musk's technology assets. With SpaceX completing a record-breaking $85.7 billion IPO in June this year (its market value once reached $1.63 trillion), Musk's cross-company integration and capital return capabilities have been further validated. While debate persists over Neuralink's reasonable pricing, both primary and secondary markets remain highly attentive to its future strategic direction, as brain-computer interface technology rapidly moves from the laboratory frontier into a capital restructuring phase involving high-end medical equipment and human-machine interaction platforms.
