Musk's xAI to Build Lunar Data Center and Human Launch Site
Following a major restructuring that resulted in the departure of several senior leaders, Elon Musk yesterday unveiled an audacious future vision for his artificial intelligence venture xAI: The lunar base will act as a "supply station" for AI's expansion into deep space.
Musk explicitly stated that after merging xAI with SpaceX and planning an initial public offering, the company's recruitment focus has pivoted from conventional general artificial intelligence (AGI) research toward more ambitious aerospace engineering. He extended an invitation to potential candidates: "If you're passionate about deploying large-scale autonomous vehicles on the moon, join xAI."

During an xAI all-hands meeting, Musk detailed plans to construct AI data centers in orbit, but emphasized this is merely the starting point. Confronted with power demands reaching terawatt levels annually, Musk has set his sights on the moon:

Mass Driver: Utilize large lunar maglev systems to launch AI satellites directly into deep space.
