Since its initial release in October 2021, Windows 11 has faced criticism regarding its performance on specific hardware configurations. Gamers using new hybrid performance CPUs reported no noticeable gains, while others described the OS as feeling less responsive than Windows 10. Microsoft has addressed many issues through updates, and now the company is asking for direct feedback on any slow or sluggish performance experienced in Windows 11.
A new Windows 11 test build released on Friday introduces a feature to automatically collect and submit performance logs to Microsoft. The company encourages Windows Insiders to report performance-related issues via Feedback Hub, which will capture these logs automatically to help identify root causes more efficiently.
This logging mechanism reflects Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to enhancing Windows performance. It is expected to contribute to further improvements in the performance and stability of the 25H2 update, scheduled for release later this year.
In 2023, Microsoft already rolled out optimizations to accelerate the Taskbar, notification area, and quick settings panel. The impact of startup applications on system performance was also reduced. Last year's 24H2 update notably improved performance on older hardware as well.
Additionally, Microsoft is tightening driver requirements for the upcoming 25H2 update. Developers will need to comply with new certification rules, including mandatory static code analysis, aimed at identifying potential issues in driver code before deployment.
