Microsoft announced the global launch of its enterprise AI agent, Copilot Cowork, yesterday. Internal testing showed it delivered exceptional cost efficiency, with an average cost per prompt 30% to 40% lower than its competitor, Claude Cowork.
Copilot Cowork is an AI assistant built for enterprises, capable of handling complex, long-running multi-tool tasks from start to finish. Users simply set the end goal, and the agent automatically orchestrates the necessary tools to execute and deliver results.

Microsoft ran a three-month preview before the official launch. During that time, over half of the Fortune 500 companies—including Accenture, Zurich Insurance, and Capital Group—adopted and used Copilot Cowork.
Backed by the Microsoft ecosystem, Copilot Cowork offers unique technological advantages over competitors. It supports cloud-hosted execution, so tasks keep running even after you close your laptop, and it includes a built-in context engine.
Flexible Billing with Enterprise-Grade Security
Copilot Cowork inherits Microsoft 365's trust boundary, meeting enterprise security standards. It also offers multiple large language model options, allowing it to optimize efficiency based on task requirements.
For billing, Copilot Cowork uses a flexible pay-as-you-go model with dedicated credits. Total operating costs break down into four dimensions: model usage, context retrieval, tool calls, and runtime. It provides cost estimates for light, medium, and heavy tasks tailored to different enterprise needs.
