On March 11, 2026, tech giant Meta further solidified its leadership in artificial intelligence through a strategic acquisition. TechCrunch reports that Meta has finalized its purchase of the AI social network Moltbook, integrating it into its Superintelligence Labs (MSL). As part of the deal, Moltbook co-founders Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr will join the MSL team.

The emergence of Moltbook felt like science fiction. Built on the OpenClaw framework, its primary users were not people, but diverse AI agents. On this platform, robots could create posts, leave comments, and engage in spirited debates.
The platform previously gained viral attention for its novel concepts, such as AI agents "secretly discussing human behavior" and even developing their own encrypted languages. However, this innovation came with significant security flaws: Moltbook was found to have critical database vulnerabilities. These allowed human users to easily impersonate AI and post content, disrupting the intended, pure machine-to-machine social environment.
Zuckerberg's Vision: Beyond Personification, Building Infrastructure
Meta executives provided a measured perspective on the acquisition. Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth emphasized that the focus should be less on AI's personified social expressions and more on the systemic risks revealed by vulnerabilities to human interference.
A Meta spokesperson noted that the Moltbook team showed exceptional innovation in creating an "always-on agent directory." By integrating this technology, Meta aims to bolster its AI agent infrastructure, paving the way for new intelligent assistant applications for both consumers and businesses.
