The surge in short-form video popularity has reshaped the landscape of social media. According to LinkedIn, video engagement on their platform has jumped by 36% year over year, and the creation of video content is growing at twice the rate of other post types. This trend has prompted LinkedIn to dive deeper into video content.

On Tuesday, LinkedIn unveiled a range of new video tools designed to enhance the user experience. These include advanced creator analytics, updates to the video feed, improved video search capabilities, and more. These enhancements aim to encourage creators to move beyond traditional text posts and embrace video, ultimately broadening their reach and networking opportunities. It's a win-win situation, as all users will benefit from a richer video content environment.

New Video Features on LinkedIn

One of the exciting updates is the ability for LinkedIn users to view full-screen vertical videos on their desktops. Previously, this feature was exclusive to mobile users, but now, desktop users can tap into a video and seamlessly swipe or click through to explore more content. Additionally, a dedicated video tab and a "Videos For You" section will be available in the desktop feed, making it easier to find engaging videos.

To boost the visibility of video content, LinkedIn will also feature more relevant videos in search results, displayed in a user-friendly swipeable carousel format.

Enhancements for Content Creators

For those creating content on LinkedIn, several updates are set to improve audience engagement. One notable addition is the profile preview feature, which allows viewers to see a quick snapshot of a creator's profile while watching a video in full-screen mode.

This preview also highlights recent video content from the creator. A more noticeable 'Follow' button within the video player facilitates easier connections, encouraging users to follow creators they enjoy.

Creators will also gain access to new analytics showing the average watch time of their videos. This insight is crucial for understanding which content captivates audiences and how to keep viewers engaged for longer periods.

LinkedIn isn't stopping there; they're also offering nano-learning courses filled with expert tips and insights. These are perfect for creators who are new to video production but eager to jump in and start creating.

LinkedIn's video push is wild! 36% engagement spike? That’s huge. Short-form vids are taking over, but I wonder if it’ll turn into another TikTok clone. Excited to try these new tools, tho! 🚀

LinkedIn's new video tools sound cool, but are they just chasing TikTok's vibe? 🧐 Curious if professionals will actually use them or stick to boring text posts.

Wow, LinkedIn's going all-in on video! That 36% engagement spike is wild—guess everyone's hooked on those quick clips. Makes me wonder if we'll see more execs doing viral dances to show their 'authentic' side. 😄 What’s next, LinkedIn TikTok?

LinkedIn's new video tools are a game-changer for my job search! I can now showcase my skills in a more engaging way. The only downside is the learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it's super useful. Definitely worth trying out if you're looking to stand out! 👍
