Intel Spinoff Articul8 Secures Major Funding in $70M Round at $500M Valuation
Articul8, an enterprise AI company launched from Intel in early 2024, has raised over half of a targeted $70 million funding round, achieving a $500 million pre-money valuation. According to its CEO, this move aims to meet the rising demand for AI solutions in heavily regulated sectors.
This Series B round is structured in two parts. The first portion is led by Spain's Adara Ventures, explained Arun K. Subramaniyan, Articul8's founder and CEO. While he did not disclose the amount of this initial close, he confirmed the company expects to finalize the entire round within the first quarter of this year.
The valuation for this current round represents a significant jump—approximately five times higher than the company's $100 million post-money valuation from its Series A in January 2024. Since that time, the Santa Clara-based firm reports securing over $90 million in total contract value from 29 paying clients, which include notable names like Hitachi Energy, AWS, Franklin Templeton, and Intel.
Subramaniyan informed TechCrunch that Articul8 felt no urgent need to secure funding, describing the company as revenue-positive following a series of major enterprise deals.
“We are not cash-strapped,” he said.
The CEO stated the company anticipates ending the year with an annual recurring revenue slightly above $57 million, with about 45% to 50% of that sum already recognized.
Rather than offering shared, general-purpose models, Articul8 builds specialized AI systems designed to operate within a client's own IT infrastructure. Its approach involves packaging its technology as software applications and AI agents fine-tuned for specific business tasks. The company targets regulated industries like energy, manufacturing, aerospace, financial services, and semiconductors, where precision, auditability, and data security are paramount.

A view of Articul8's knowledge graph / Image Credit: Articul8 “In a broad sense, we compete with almost everyone,” Subramaniyan noted. “However, our primary rivals today are the large cloud service providers, as they've recognized their general-purpose offerings are becoming commoditized.”
He further explained that Articul8's emphasis on specialized systems attracts clients who require predictable outcomes and transparent audit trails—features that are more challenging to guarantee with general-purpose models hosted on shared cloud platforms.
The capital from the Series B round will be primarily directed toward expanding research and product development, as well as scaling the company's international operations, with a particular focus on Europe and parts of Asia.
Subramaniyan said that Adara Ventures' involvement will accelerate the European expansion strategy, especially given that the European Investment Fund supports the Madrid-based VC's energy fund. The company is also aiming to grow in markets like Japan and South Korea, where it has already started collaborating with large enterprise customers.
India's Aditya Birla Ventures is also participating in this ongoing funding round, Subramaniyan confirmed.
Articul8 collaborates with major technology partners such as Nvidia and Google Cloud. Subramaniyan added that Amazon Web Services serves as both a customer and a deployment partner for the company in certain projects.
The company currently has a team of 75 employees, with roughly 80% dedicated to research and development. Its teams are distributed across the United States, Brazil, and India.
