Infinite Reality Acquires Touchcast for $500M to Boost AI Innovation
Infinite Reality, a leader in AI, immersive tech, and digital media, has finalized a $500 million cash-and-stock deal to acquire Touchcast, a pioneer in agentic AI.
The agreement follows Infinite Reality’s recent $207 million acquisition of Napster, with the deal valuing the company at $15.5 billion.
Based in Boca Raton, Florida, Infinite Reality is aggressively expanding to create a next-generation digital ecosystem, often likened to the metaverse—a concept popularized by Neal Stephenson in his 1992 novel Snow Crash. However, after Meta’s foray into the space sparked skepticism, Infinite Reality prefers the term immersive technology, acquiring firms to shape this vision.
In an interview with GamesBeat, Amish Shah, Infinite Reality’s chief business officer, clarified the company’s shift away from the metaverse label due to its overhyped connotations.
“We’re seasoned entrepreneurs building a clear vision,” Shah said. “Our CEO Jon Acunto and founder Edo Segal bring decades of experience, having led multiple successful ventures. Unlike others chasing trends, we have a proven track record and a compelling story.”

Touchcast’s AI creates virtual stores guided by lifelike avatars. “We’ve learned from past mistakes and aligned our goals,” Shah added. “The AI market is booming, and our acquisitions reflect thorough due diligence over months of market analysis.”
Discussions between the companies began at last year’s Web Summit, culminating in this deal.
Edo Segal, Touchcast’s founder and CEO, highlighted his fifth AI venture sale, emphasizing Touchcast’s Mentorverse platform. This technology powers AI mentors capable of natural, face-to-face video interactions, offering specialized expertise.
In a demo, Segal showcased avatars with slight delays but impressive conversational abilities, tailored to specific applications like user support.
Unlike conventional chatbots, Touchcast’s AI delivers consistent, expert-driven interactions through multimodal engagement. Integrating this with Infinite Reality’s offerings will enhance user engagement, customer service, and sales across its portfolio.
For instance, Napster users will benefit from AI-driven social listening spaces, playlist curation, and community management. Meanwhile, iR Enterprise and iR Studio clients, including Fortune 500 brands and smaller businesses, will leverage Touchcast’s AI to scale global sales and support.
Despite its $15.5 billion valuation with just 300 employees, Infinite Reality faces skepticism. Shah addressed this, noting a $3 billion raise at a $12.5 billion valuation in January, though the lead investor remained undisclosed. He emphasized future announcements would clarify their credibility.

Touchcast’s avatars act as personalized mentors. Infinite Reality’s investors include RSE Ventures, Liberty Media, Lux Capital, Lerer Hippeau, and notable figures like Steve Aoki, Imagine Dragons, and NBA star Rudy Gobert.
Recent acquisitions include Obsess, Stakes, Drone Racing, Ethereal, Action Face, Super League Gaming, and Landvault, alongside a $350 million raise in 2024.
Built on OpenAI and hosted on Microsoft Azure through a $50 million partnership, Touchcast’s platform enhances AI response times, enabling seamless, human-like experiences that cut costs and boost efficiency. Its suite transforms complex tasks into one-click solutions, from AI mentors to interactive web experiences.
Touchcast’s enterprise-grade platform, SOC2 compliant with 27 AI and video tech patents, supports coordinated presentations and intelligent virtual assistants. Its AI mentors collaborate as specialized teams, delivering instant value by elevating online interactions.
“Agentic AI will redefine web interactions,” said John Acunto, Infinite Reality’s CEO. “Touchcast’s technology enhances our portfolio, empowering Napster users, global brands, and small businesses with immediate, impactful solutions.”

Touchcast acquired for $500 million. Segal, a serial AI innovator, has driven breakthroughs in human-AI collaboration for over 20 years, with past ventures sold to AOL, Answers.com, and Livestream.
“Partnering with Infinite Reality is the perfect next step,” Segal said. “Our mission to humanize AI aligns with their platform, enabling creators and businesses to deliver expertise and storytelling on an unprecedented scale.”
Segal demonstrated Mentorverse transforming a website into a 3D experience in minutes, a process that once took years. A VentureBeat demo created a 3D site with a lifelike greeter, while an Imperial College demo featured virtual professor avatars.
With $60 million raised and clients like Accenture, Touchcast employs 70 people and holds a strategic Microsoft partnership.
“This acquisition, our largest yet, builds on our Napster deal and $3 billion raise,” Shah said. “Touchcast’s AI is a cornerstone for our platform, equipping customers for success in an AI-driven world.”
