GOV.UK Enhances Search with Google Cloud
Every day, GOV.UK, the UK government's official site, serves up vital info, services, and guidance to millions. And guess what? They've just teamed up with Kin + Carta, a Valtech-owned digital transformation consultancy, and Google Cloud's Vertex AI Search to give their search feature a massive boost. Now, it's way easier for folks to find what they're looking for.
The aim was to make searching more intuitive and effective, so Kin + Carta brought in Google Cloud's custom Vertex AI Search. This tool uses natural language models that fit the more "chatty" style of today's searches, making the site both accurate and easy for everyone to use.
Early tests look pretty good, with a 14% jump in users clicking on relevant results. Plus, there's been a big drop in people having to search over and over to find what they want, and fewer folks are leaving the site because they can't find what they need.
