Google.org Unveils Newest AI Opportunity Fund Recipients

Nonprofits are the unsung heroes tackling community challenges head-on. However, to make a bigger impact, they need to harness the power of cutting-edge technology like AI. A 2024 Google.org report highlighted a critical issue: many nonprofits are missing out on AI due to a lack of training. Although most believe generative AI could revolutionize their work, its adoption is still in the early stages.
To bridge this gap and empower American nonprofit employees with AI skills, Google.org is thrilled to announce a $10 million investment in Project Evident, the Tech:NYC Foundation, and various local community foundations across the U.S. These groups will offer customized technical support, hands-on workshops, webinars, and peer learning sessions on AI adoption and implementation—all free of charge for nonprofits.
Organizations receiving Google.org's funding have shared exciting results: AI helps them reach their goals in about a third of the time and at nearly half the cost. Take Erika's Lighthouse, for instance. They've used Gemini to speed up content and curriculum development, coming up with innovative program names, concepts, and themes. This has allowed their team to dedicate more time to advancing their mission.
Google.org's AI Opportunity Fund
Today's grant is a part of Google.org's broader $75 million AI Opportunity Fund. This initiative supports top-notch workforce development and education organizations, aiming to train over one million Americans in AI skills. We're excited about the future and eager to keep working with industries, governments, and communities to ensure everyone can access these vital AI skills.

#TechForGood
