Google.org Unveils 3 AI Tools for Nonprofits

Since its inception two decades ago, Google.org has been a powerhouse of philanthropy, donating a staggering $18 billion in products to nonprofits worldwide. This initiative is driven by Google's mission to leverage its innovation, research, and resources to foster progress and broaden opportunities for all. Over the past decade alone, Google.org and its employees have contributed nearly $6 billion in cash funding, underscoring their commitment to making a difference.

In today's world, artificial intelligence (AI) stands out as a game-changer, offering nonprofits the chance to revolutionize their operations, making them more effective and efficient. This potential was highlighted at Google.org's first-ever Impact Summit in Sunnyvale, California, where we unveiled three exciting initiatives aimed at helping nonprofits tap into AI's transformative power to drive change in their communities.

The urgency for AI adoption among nonprofits is evident. A recent Google.org survey revealed that while four out of five nonprofits see the relevance of generative AI to their work, nearly half are not yet using it. Moreover, a majority of these organizations are unaware of how AI could be applied in their operations.

Get time back for your organization with AI

Back in April, Google.org launched the AI Opportunity Fund, a $10 million initiative to help U.S. nonprofits master AI tools, boosting their productivity and creativity. Additionally, $7 million will support nonprofits in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia Pacific region. But that's not all—Google.org is also rolling out a new website packed with resources tailored to introduce social impact organizations to AI tools that can accelerate their efforts for social good.

Apply for the Google.org Accelerator: Generative AI round two

The Google.org Impact Summit also celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of the Google.org Accelerator: Generative AI program. These 21 organizations benefited from funding, cloud credits, technical training, and pro-bono support over the past six months to scale their generative AI solutions. Building on this success, the second round of the Google.org Accelerator: Generative AI will open in the fall. It's an open call for social impact organizations to apply for a share of up to $30 million in funding and support. Keep an eye on the Google.org website for application details.

Try new Ad Grants AI features

Over 300,000 nonprofits globally rely on Google for Nonprofits and its discounted tools for marketing and collaboration. To enhance their engagement with donors and the communities they serve, Google for Nonprofits is introducing two new AI features to the Ad Grants program: Performance Max and a conversational experience in Search campaigns.

The Ad Grants program offers $10,000 per month in free search advertising to nonprofits in over 65 countries. Soon, eligible participants will harness Performance Max's keywordless AI technology to discover new, relevant search queries and use generative AI to craft ad text that aligns with user intent. Performance Max is already rolling out to eligible Ad Grants accounts and will continue to expand in the coming months.

Additionally, nonprofits can leverage the conversational experience to directly interact with Google AI, enhancing their Search campaigns with better keywords, images, headlines, and descriptions. This feature is available globally for advertisers with their language set to English.

Back in 2004, Google's founders envisioned Google.org as a force to ambitiously tackle the world's biggest challenges through innovation and substantial resources. Today, the Google.org team proudly continues this legacy, equipping nonprofits around the globe with the tools and resources they need to address critical issues in their communities.
