Google is increasing the subscription prices for Nest Aware and Nest Aware Plus, effective August 2025.
Emails sent to subscribers today confirm the base Nest Aware plan will rise from $8 monthly or $80 annually to $10 per month or $100 per year when billed upfront. Nest Aware Plus is increasing from $15 monthly or $150 per year to $20 per month or $200 annually. Google states the updated pricing will take effect “on your first billing date occurring on or after August 15, 2025, or following the conclusion of your promotional period, whichever comes later.” The last price adjustment for Nest subscriptions occurred in September 2023.
While Google’s Nest devices can function without a subscription, only a few hours of footage will be saved without Nest Aware or Nest Aware Plus. The standard Nest Aware plan includes 30 days of event-based video history, while Nest Aware Plus extends this to 60 days and adds 24/7 continuous video from compatible devices for the past 10 days.
Both subscription levels offer features such as Familiar Face detection, sound alerts for breaking glass or smoke alarms, and the ability to contact the closest 911 dispatch center through the Google Home app remotely.
Though price hikes are rarely popular, the new Nest Aware rates are competitive with rival services offering comparable AI-enhanced capabilities. Ring Home’s Premium plan currently costs $19.99 monthly or $199.99 per year. Arlo Plus starts at $7.99 monthly for a single camera but increases to $17.99 monthly for multiple cameras. Nest Aware and Nest Aware Plus both support unlimited devices within the same home.
Google has not provided a specific reason for the increases, though Nest Aware Plus recently introduced a Gemini-based intelligence feature—currently in a limited public preview—that creates detailed descriptions of recorded events, such as "the dog is digging in the garden." This enhanced AI may justify the updated pricing for some users.
