Google Meet Now Takes Notes Automatically with AI Assistance

If you've ever found yourself missing crucial moments in a meeting because you were busy scribbling notes, Google's latest AI-powered feature for Google Meet users might just be the game-changer you need. Dubbed "Take notes for me," this handy tool was initially unveiled back in April as a part of the AI Meetings and Messaging add-on for Google Workspace, which comes with a price tag of $10 per user per month and also features an automatic translation tool.
Google recently shed more light on "Take notes for me" through a detailed blog post released on Thursday. According to the company, this feature is designed to let you "drop the pen and lean into the conversation instead of taking notes." It works by analyzing the meeting in real-time, pinpointing key points as the discussion unfolds, and then compiling an easy-to-digest summary at the end. This summary is sent to the meeting owner, who can then share it as they see fit.
These AI-generated notes can be a lifesaver if you miss a meeting or join late, providing a quick way to catch up on what you missed. They're also great for creating actionable takeaways for attendees.
Google assures that Meet will store these documents securely in the meeting owner's Drive folder, adhering to any retention policies set by your organization.
The "Take notes for me" feature is exclusively available to customers with Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or AI Meetings and Messaging add-on accounts. Only those with these licenses can tap into this new functionality, which complements other Duet AI features like face detection, automatic caption translation, noise cancellation, and video enhancement.
By default, AI note-taking will be enabled, but system administrators have the power to control whether their users can use this feature. To adjust the settings, head over to the admin console, navigate to Apps > Google Workspace > Google Meet > Gemini Settings.
If you're looking to roll out the feature across your entire organization at once, Google suggests turning the setting off initially and then switching it back on after the rollout is complete.
The rollout of this innovative feature is set to begin on Tuesday, August 13, and is expected to wrap up by August 21, according to Google.

This AI note-taking in Google Meet sounds like a lifesaver! No more frantic scribbling during calls. But, like, is it smart enough to catch my boss’s sarcastic comments? 😄

Google Meet's new AI feature is a lifesaver! No more missing key points because I'm writing notes. It's so handy, but sometimes it misses small details. Still, it's a huge time-saver and makes meetings much more productive. Give it a try! 👍
