Google just dropped the dates for its big yearly developer bash, and it's happening on May 20-21, 2025. They're sticking to their favorite spot, the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, which is just a hop, skip, and a jump from Google's main office—traffic permitting, of course.
The whole thing lasts two days and mixes stuff for the public with deep dives for devs. CEO Sundar Pichai is gonna kick things off bright and early on May 20 with a major keynote. After that, it's all about the smaller breakout sessions where developers can really dig in.
Last year's show was all about Gemini, Google's hot new generative AI platform, and it looks like AI's gonna be front and center again this year. Google's been pushing AI hard at I/O for a while now, and with rivals like OpenAI and DeepSeek pushing the envelope, things are only getting more exciting.
Can't wait till May? The I/O 2025 site is already live, loaded with goodies from past years like Gemma, Google AI Studio, and NotebookLM to keep you busy.
It's a big season for developers, starting with Nvidia's GTC from March 17-21, and wrapping up with Apple's WWDC in June. Plus, Google's got some serious competition this year with Microsoft Build happening right around the same time, May 19-22, in Seattle.
