Google integrates agentic AI and vibe-coded widgets into Android
Google announced a fresh batch of AI features under its Gemini Intelligence brand during the “Android Show: I/O Edition” event on Tuesday. These capabilities include having the AI handle tasks across multiple apps, browse the web, fill out forms, transcribe speech, and even let you vibe-code your own Android widgets.
Gemini gets more powerful
The company had already added some agentic abilities—like ordering food or booking a ride—to Gemini earlier this year at the Samsung Galaxy S26 launch. Back then, Google said Gemini would soon manage more complex tasks such as reserving a front-row bike for a spin class, finding a class syllabus in Gmail, and then searching for related books.

Now, Google’s AI assistant can handle a multistep process—like copying a grocery list from your notes app and then adding items to the cart in your shopping app. To use it, press the phone’s power button and describe the task; the screen’s content provides context for the assistant. Google noted that Gemini will wait for your final confirmation before completing the checkout.

In addition, a feature first introduced in January allowed Gemini to browse the web for you and complete tasks like booking an appointment, as part of an experimental rollout. Today, Google confirmed that this auto-browse feature is also coming to Android.
In late June, Android devices will get Gemini in Chrome, an AI feature that helps users summarize content or ask questions about a webpage, similar to how Gemini in Chrome works on desktop.
Another small but useful addition: Gemini will be able to fill out forms on your behalf after learning details about you through Personal Intelligence. (Google says this feature is opt-in and can be turned off anytime via settings.)
Plus, Gemini is coming to Android’s Gboard keyboard. Google is using Gemini’s multimodal capabilities with a new feature called Rambler in Gboard, similar to those in other AI-powered dictation apps. It lets you speak in your own tone, transcribes the speech, and formats it by removing filler words.

Vibe code your own Android widgets
Vibe coding apps are gaining momentum, and Google wants Android users to get in on it too.
The company is introducing a way for users to build Android widgets by describing them in natural language. For example, you can create a meal-planning widget with a query like, “Suggest three high-protein meal prep recipes every week.”

The idea of creating a widget isn’t new to Gemini. Notably, hardware startup Nothing released a similar tool last year.
Google says Gemini Intelligence will follow the company’s Material 3 expressive design language in its features.
The company stated that these AI-powered features will first arrive on the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices this summer, and will be available on other Android devices later this year.
