Google is re-entering the smart glasses arena.
At Tuesday's Google I/O event, the company revealed a new partnership with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster to create a line of AI-powered glasses. Designed to work with both Android and iOS devices and developed in collaboration with Samsung, these glasses are slated for release later this year.
Google is branding them as "audio glasses," enabling users to perform tasks through voice commands and its ecosystem of apps and services, including Gemini.

Users can simply speak to their glasses—as demonstrated by a Googler ordering coffee online through voice—and the synced device will carry out the commands.
Google has experimented with smart glasses several times before, most famously with the launch of Google Glass, which infamously led to the term "glassholes."
The smart glasses landscape has evolved since then. Recently, major players like Meta, along with numerous startups and smaller companies, have been investing heavily in this technology.
