Google is making a bold move to win over college students in the US with its latest AI service offering. As of today, students can snag Google's One AI Premium plan at no cost, bypassing the standard $20 monthly fee until June 30th, 2026. It's an enticing deal, but there's a catch—you've got to sign up before June 30th, 2025. That's right, you need to be quick on the draw and use a valid .edu email address to verify your eligibility. According to Google spokesperson Alex Joseph, who chatted with *The Verge*, students will receive a reminder email as their plan nears its end, giving them "plenty of time to cancel" if they wish.
So, what's in it for the students? The One AI Premium plan packs a punch with 2TB of cloud storage and a suite of Google's AI tools designed to help students "study smarter." At the heart of this package is the Gemini 2.5 Pro, powering tools like Gemini Advanced—Google's answer to ChatGPT Plus—and Gemini Deep Research, which can break down complex topics and even turn reports into engaging podcast-style audio. If that's not enough, there's also NotebookLM Plus for enhanced studying and audio summarization, and you can integrate Google's Gemini assistant right into Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
But wait, there's more! Google is rolling out some new toys as well. The Veo 2 text-to-video AI model is on board, along with Whisk, a nifty tool that lets you blend text and image prompts to whip up something entirely new. It's like having a creative AI chef at your fingertips.
