Fi's Smart Collar Tracks Dog Activity for Apple Watch Owners
The new Fi Series 3 Plus AI collar from smart pet tech company Fi enables dog owners to keep track of their pet's activity, health metrics, and daily patterns directly from their Apple Watch. Launched this week, the collar introduces advanced behavior detection, seamless Apple Watch app integration, and enhanced GPS tracking capabilities over earlier models.
According to Fi, the Series 3 Plus identifies meaningful behavioral shifts in dogs with approximately 80% accuracy. Beyond counting steps and monitoring sleep, it tracks behaviors like barking, licking, scratching, eating, and drinking to highlight long-term trends and potential irregularities. The goal is to empower owners to address health concerns early, though some reports suggest smart pet wearables can sometimes create more worry than reassurance.
Fi states the GPS tracking sensitivity has been doubled from the prior version for more precise location data. The companion app, offering full monitoring of a pet's location and activity, is now available on Apple Watch with the same interactive and intelligent features found in the mobile app. A new AI document analysis tool within the app can also extract health details from veterinary records, bills, or insurance documents.

The white line in the center of the collar is an integrated light for nighttime visibility. Image: FiThe Series 3 Plus retains several popular features from previous Fi collars. It boasts a fully waterproof IP68 rating, tested for immersion in up to 50 meters of salt water, a rechargeable battery that lasts about three months per charge, and a built-in light for visibility after dark. Available in five sizes and four colors—yellow, blue, pink, or gray—the collar is offered through a subscription plan starting at $14 per month, which includes all app features with no extra hardware cost.
